Coros Apex Pro Premium Multisport GPS Watch Review

There was once a time when tracking your physical activity meant using a stopwatch. Individuals would painstakingly calculate their progress on graph paper in hopes that they might be accurate. However, those days are long behind us.

Today, more and more people seek to incorporate technology into their fitness routines. That’s because these devices simplify processes and provide accurate calculations to assess progress.

It’s no wonder why GPS sports watches became highly popular among fitness enthusiasts. These watches have revolutionized the way we track our performance metrics. They used cutting-edge technology to record heart rate, distance, speed and burned calories. As a result, we can use them to monitor a wide range of physical activities to help usachieve our fitness goals.

However, with so many options available in the market, it can be challenging to find the right GPS sports watch.

In this blog, I’m going to review the Coros Apex Pro Premium Multisport GPS watchthat has taken the fitness world by storm. Its state-of-the-art features and great battery life help it stand out.

Defining the Qualities of a Good GPS Multisport Watch

Fitness coaches can be highly beneficial for athletes and fitness enthusiasts. They help track and closely monitor changes and provide valuable insight to customize training plans.

That being said, the latest GPS multisport watches offer enough advanced insight to make you believe you have a personal coach at the ready. These incredible devices use the GPS, or global positioning system, to calculate your exact location. They also determine your pacing, speed, and other important metrics with a detailed map.

It’s why the most important quality of all good GPS multisport watches is accuracy. Top-quality devices should offer reliably accurate and precise calculations of speed, distance, location, etc. After all, these assessments are essential to ensure an individual meets their fitness goals.

High-quality GPS multisport watches should also offerdurability. They should be able to withstand factors like shocks from movement, sweat, water, and more. A good battery life is another important quality because you’d want a watch that lasts a long workout without the need to be recharged.

Finally, perhaps the most important quality is good features. A top-quality GPS multisport watch should offer important features that benefit fitness. A lot of these devices do this wrong and overcrowd features that aren’t great.

So, now that we know what qualities a good GPS multisport watch should have, how does the Coros Apex Pro rate? Let’s find out.

Design and Interface

My review of the Coros Apex Pro Premium Multisport GPS starts with its design. The watch is relatively bigger, but stillappears sleek and stylish. That’s because it is made from various kinds of materials that blend perfectly to give it its aesthetic appeal.

The watch’s case is primarily manufactured from aluminum. However, the companyalso used titanium alloy for the making of its bezel. Meanwhile, sapphire was used in the making of the screen. Finally, you have the option of opting for either silicone or nylon straps. A great benefit of these straps is that they’re comfortable and breezy to wear even if you feel very sweaty.

The watchweighs around 59g if you opt for the silicone band and 49g with the nylon one. As a result, we can estimate that the watch doesn’t weigh too much for a GPS multisport watch, despite having a robust design.

The screen of the Coros Apex Pro Premium Multisport GPS watch is around 1.2 inches and can be easily read even in direct sunlight. However, if you have a hard time, the backlight option is available.

The interfaceis incredibly user-friendly, straightforward, and easy to use. One great thing about this watch is that there aren’t too many options and features to overwhelm the user. Instead, it has a simplistic design with easy navigation toolsthat include a touch screen and buttons.

However, the best part is that the runner placement can be changed to accommodate everyone. For example, if someone is left-handed, they can shift the buttons from the right to the left side of the device. Additionally, it comes with an auto-lock that enables users to avoid pressing buttons during physical activities.

Features Offered by the Coros Apex Pro

The Coros Apex Pro Premium Multisport GPS watchis one of the most versatile gadgets out there for true multi-sport athletes. It offers a wide range of cool features without overwhelming the user or bogging the interface. I think this is a feat in itself.

Many of these features are a significant improvement from the ones offered in the Pace 2 and Apex models. The most notable upgrade is its larger touch screen with an oxygen sensor.

The Coros Apex Pro offers all standard functions like the altimeter, barometer, and compass. However, the most interesting feature is its touch navigation, which is not the standard as far as GPS watches are concerned.

Besides that, the watch has a heart rate monitor, accelerometer, gyroscope, pulse oximeter, and blood oxygenation level monitor. It also includes other types of sensors, such as temperature and cadence sensors.

However, the best part is that all the features listed above are offered at an incredibly low price. Other watches with these features are usually far more expensive. I believe this is what truly puts the Coros Apex Pro a touch ahead of other multisport watches.

How Accurate Is theCoros Apex Pro Watch?

When reviewing the Coros Apex Pro watch, assessing its GPS accuracy was probably the most important to me. I’m ecstatic to report that the watch delivered on all the promises it makes!

The Coros Apex Pro Premium Multisport GPS watch is notoriously accurate, earning an incredibly high score in this category. I tested the device on a warmup route and a 40km track to check if the data would be similar. I was surprised to find that the GPS tracked me to the measured distance expertly.

After that, I was also enthusiastic to test the heart rate accuracy as well as the optical pulse oximeter. Thankfully, the sensors provided numbers that were quite correct— I’m also happy about that.

The results aren’t as dead on as the GPS monitor, but they are accurate. Ifyou find that your heart rate monitor isn’t fully accurate, first check if it fits your wrist. That’s because when these devices don’t fit snugly, they cause differences between the 3 – 5 bpm range. However, this is still enough to estimate quite precisely any increases and decreases.

How Is the Watch’s Battery Life?

The final part of my review of theCoros Apex Pro watch is its battery life. If you are looking for a GPS multisport watch that will last you for extra-long sessions and events, this gadget is exactly what you should get.

In fact, I’ll go as far as to say that the Coros Apex Pro’s battery life outperforms any other watch in the same price range by a long shot. Its actual battery life is incredibly close to the claimed battery life (40 hours). The multisport watch was tested and compared to other brands of the same price change that claimed the same battery life. However, it was much close to the claimed battery life than others, which fell at least 10 digits behind.

As a result, users will only have to recharge their watches once in two to three weeks. This is another aspect (other than its features and accuracy) that makes this watch stand out in comparison to other big names in the market.

The watch was tested in various scenarios such as biking, hiking, trail running, and walking— and it delivered on its promises. The battery life depleted very slowly and had to only be recharged after weeks. Then the multisport watch was tested with extremely rigorous physical activities like mountain biking, trail running, open water swimming, etc. To my surprise, the battery life still depleted very slowly and only required recharge once in 2 or so weeks.

Another great feature you’re offered is the battery information. You can access it from the main menu, and it lets you know in detail how much more battery time is left and information about when the device was last charged.
